“INAF Sketchtour” - Illustrated Atlas of the National Institute of Astrophysics in Italy

“INAF Sketchtour” is an itinerant artistic residency to visit all the facilities of the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF). The aim is to create an illustrated book including its structures and the historical heritage they preserve. Above all, it is about the people who bring it to life through their daily research.

The subject is fascinating. I dig learning about their research and discoveries. I make portraits of astrophysicists, draw scientific instruments, historic books and the environment of each region.
One of the many highlights of my "Sketchtour" of the Inaf facilities was Medicina. To me, the scale of the radio-telescope and the music coming out from the resonnance in the wires of the "croce del nord" was the closest experience to a space journey.
